It’s that time of the year y’all! It’s time to put all those apples that are just sitting around to use. Usually, when I want to get rid of apples, I whip up a nice homemade apple pie, apple cider, or a fresh apple cake, but in this post, we’re going to make a good old-fashioned slow cooker apple butter recipe!

Apple butter smeared on half of a biscuit. A glass bowl filled with apple butter sits nearby along with more golden biscuits.

How to Make Old-Fashioned Slow Cooker Apple Butter!

This is a super easy apple butter recipe. We simply peel and slice the apples and then toss them into the crockpot.

This homemade apple butter recipe is made with brown sugar, granulated sugar, a dash of maple syrup, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Chunky, rich apple butter is heaped into a glass bowl atop a wood cutting board along with golden biscuits.

I used Granny Smith Apples for this recipe, but feel free to use other apples if you have them on hand.

Homemade Apple Butter Tips and Tricks

If you have a ton of apples that you want to put to use before they go bad, and you’re afraid of making too much of this slow cooker apple butter recipe, keep in mind that this crockpot apple butter can be used for canning; therefore, you can save it for a later date.

I don’t own a slow cooker, so what kind of adjustments would I have to make to do it on the stove top, if possible?

You can cook it on low, but you’ll also have to babysit the pot. You can find a low cost slow cooker at Walmart .
