When it comes to holiday flavors, gingerbread certainly stands out as a classic. The warm blend of spices mixed with a hint of sweetness can only mean one thing: the festive season is here. But this year, why not take your love for gingerbread to the next level with an exciting twist? Presenting Gingerbread Truffles made with golden Oreos and adorned with adorable gingerbread icing transfers!

This unique blend of flavors and textures creates a luxurious treat that’s perfect for family gatherings, gift-giving, or simply indulging in a moment of festive bliss. And the best part? You don’t have to be a master chef to whip up these goodies. Here’s how you can make them:

How to Make Christmasy Gingerbread Truffles

Ingredients

  • 1 package of regular golden Oreos (36 cookies)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3 TBSP molasses
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 bag of Ghirardelli white melting chocolate
  • 1 package of gingerbread icing transfers

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos: Using a food processor or blender, finely crush the Oreos until sand-like.
  2. Combine the Base: Pour crushed Oreos into a large mixing bowl. Add the softened cream cheese and mix until combined.
  3. Add the Flavor: Mix in the molasses, ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon until well combined.
  4. Chill: Place the bowl into the fridge for 3 hours to harden.
  5. Shape the Truffles: Using a small ice cream scoop, scoop some of the truffle mixture into your hand and roll into a ball. Place onto a plate or cookie sheet.
  6. Harden the Truffles: Once all the truffles are rolled, place them into the fridge for 20 minutes to harden further.
  7. Prepare the Chocolate: While the truffles are in the fridge, melt the white chocolate according to the package instructions.
  8. Dip and Decorate: After the 20 minutes are up, dip a truffle into the chocolate, coating it completely. Lightly tap the edge of the pot to get the excess off, then place onto a parchment paper-covered cookie sheet. Adorn with a gingerbread icing transfer.
  9. Final Chill: Repeat with the remaining truffles, then place into the fridge to harden for 10 minutes before enjoying!

Tips for Storing Homemade Gingerbread Truffles

After going through the process of making these Gingerbread Truffles, it’s crucial to store them correctly to maintain their freshness and flavor. Here’s a quick guide to help you store your Gingerbread Truffles:

Short-Term Storage:

  1. Refrigerator: If you plan to consume the truffles within a week, the refrigerator is your best bet. Place the truffles in an airtight container, separating layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking. This will help maintain their moisture and keep other fridge odors at bay. Before serving or eating, let them sit out for about 10-15 minutes to come to room temperature, enhancing their flavor and texture.

Long-Term Storage:

  1. Freezer: For longer storage, up to a month, you can freeze your truffles. Again, use an airtight container and separate the truffles with parchment paper. When you’re ready to enjoy them, allow them to thaw in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight. This method will help you have a delightful treat on hand whenever the craving strikes!

A Few Tips:

  • Moisture Watch: White chocolate can sometimes “sweat” when moving from cold to warm temperatures. If you notice condensation forming when thawing your truffles, just blot them gently with a paper towel.
  • Avoid Strong Odors: Ensure that your storage containers are airtight. Truffles, like many chocolates, can absorb strong odors from their surroundings, which might affect their taste.

Remember, the fresher the truffle, the better it tastes! While storing is a fantastic way to extend their life, enjoying them while they’re fresh will give you the best flavor experience.

These Gingerbread Truffles are more than just a treat; they’re a celebration of the holidays in every bite. The familiar taste of gingerbread combined with the smoothness of white chocolate and the playful addition of gingerbread icing transfers creates a festive delight that’s sure to please both young and old.

So, gather your ingredients and spread some holiday cheer with these irresistible Gingerbread Truffles. Happy holidays!
